About Me

"This page will give more of a flavour of who I am and what I am about. I live in Cardiff (Wales) but was born 400miles to the north in Glasgow (Scotland). I have lived over half of my life in Wales and love the principality. I do, however, always consider myself Scottish first and foremost. I have always been passionate about football and still follow the Scottish national team in their efforts to reach major championship finals. In fact, sport has played a big part in my life. I played football for many years (until old age caught up with me) and still play golf and tennis. I am married to Anne who was born & bred in Cardiff, and we have three fantastic children, Beth, Andy and Georgi (the first two are at University currently while the third is in her final year of school). Yes, you guessed it, it is an expensive time right now!!

After doing my 1st degree at the University of Glasgow (BSc in Psychology), I took up a teaching/research position at the University of Wales (Cardiff), where I gained a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology. A career change saw me enter the world of IT. I started in the DVLC in Swansea, as an analyst/programmer, before joining BT, where I have worked in many and varied roles, from hands-on IT, to more senior management and leadership positions. These later roles have been the most interesting and challenging part of my entire career, enabling me to close the circle and synthesise my psychology training with extensive experience of what it takes to succeed in the world of business. I now enjoy working with people to help them achieve what they want using a unique combination of talent in coaching, psychology and business. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than seeing the people I work with succeed.
